Heselmeyer BBQ Sauce
taste the best of the best … served for big crowds & family ….
Ingredients
- 6 Tblsp margarine
- 3/4 cup onion, ground
- 3 quarts ketchup
- 1 quart tomato sauce
- 2 tsp Lousiana hot sauce
- 1 1/2 Tblsp lemon juice
- 1 1/2 Tblsp French’s mustard
- 4 Tblsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 ounces vinegar
- 2 tsps salt
- 2 tsps black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 Tblsp brown sugar
Directions
- Grind onions and saute them with the margarine until onions are tender.
- Heat the ketchup and tomato sauce until warm. Add hot sauce, lemon juice, vinegar, salt and pepper next. (Rinse out cans with a little water and add to sauce mixtures.
- Mix the mustard, garlic powder, chili powder and brown sugar together with mixer and add to the sauce mixture.
- Stir constantly so sauce does not stick or burn. Continue cooking on low heat until heated well through.
- Add water if too thick.
Canning Sauce. Fill sterilize 1 pint jars up to 1/2 inch of top with hot bbq sauce. Close jars with heated lids with rings. Place in water bath for 15 minutes.
Yiled: 4 quarts
