Mathilda’s Oatmeal Cookies

My grandmother used to make these cookies and my aunt found part of  the recipe in a hand-written little notebook she kept in a kitchen drawer. She only supplied the ingredients, the rest is up to the baker!

Ingredients

1 cup shortening

1 1/2 cup sugar

2 cups oatmeal

2 cups flour

2 eggs

1 Tbsp cocoa dissolved in 1/2 cup hot water

3/4 tsp baking soda

Pecans if desired

(Use more flour if needed)
