Green Pepper Steak

A simple dish that gets better, the longer it simmers. This “conglomeration” is a complete meal when you add a green salad and serve with a good bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs round steak
  • 2 Tblsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 large bell peppers, cut into strips (*option: use any combo or green/yellow/red peppers)
  • 2 large onions, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 lb mushrooms
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup red wine

Directions

  1. Cut round steak into 1/2 inch strips. Brown well in skillet, using olive oil and garlic.
  2. In a second skillet, saute green peppers and onions.
  3. When vegetables are tender, add mushrooms.
  4. Mix together sautéed vegetables with the browned meat, add salt and pepper and wine.
  5. Simmer for at least 15 minutes, better the longer you simmer.
