Lamb Burgers for Two
When I wasn’t even looking… I discovered the ground lamb at one of my favorite stores …Central Market (Texas owned by parent HEB).
Make your own burger creations, using either pita bread, hamburger buns, or toasted homemade bread.
Assemble with assorted combinations of tomatoes, sliced red onions, fresh spinach or bibb lettuce, favorite condiments or dill yogurt sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 onion chopped
- Kosher salt
- Olive oil
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 lb ground lamb
- 1 Tbsp dried dill
- 1 Tbsp dried oregano
- zest of 1/2 lemon
- Cook onions in olive oil in a large saute pan and season with crushed pepper and salt. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, add garlic and cook another 2 to 4 minutes. Set aside and let cool.
- After onions are cooled, combine with lamb and rest of ingredients in a large bowl. Add 1/2 cup water and mix well.
- Makes 2 large patties or 4 smaller patties if using with pita, sliders, or homemade bread.
- Grill on stovetop or outside to taste. Medium rare is 4 to 5 minutes per side. Let rest for 3 to 4 minutes.
